Where did autumn go?
We started October with the summer heat and high humidity. It felt like we had a week of nice weather with lower humidity and then it got cool. We turned off the A\C and started wearing jackets when the sun went down.
This month we had our new sister missionaries here with the
elders, so we were able to do some fun activities. Transfers were a week early and we got a new Elder and a new Sister at the end of the month.
Preparation Day at the Nagasaki Bio Park with our friend who drove the sisters since we cannot fit all 4 missionaries in our car.
Last P-day before transfers. I took the missionaries to 2 observatories overlooking the 99 islands and the beach. Sister Frampton prepared dinner and the birthday cake for the sister who got transferred.
Nagasaki Peace Park Visit on Pday with our Elders and Sisters and Nagasaki Elders.
It was also a big month for supporting the USO.
We had Captain Fleet Treats at the beginning of the month
and served a BBQ of Hot Dogs and Hamburgers.
We supported the USO Tent to pass out drinks and have games
for attendees at the Navy 250 Birthday Party/Fun Run.
We also provided USO booth support for the Halloween event
at Hario Housing.
We assisted with the USO Fleet Landing clean out for remodeling. We moved the drinks and snacks outside for those who showed up and did not know the USO was closed. For the USO refurbishing and Grand Reopening, Sister Frampton took care of all the boxes from the 2 truckloads of furniture that arrived. We attended the ceremony with the Base Captain and Japan USO Director and then took the first shift welcoming all the guests to the center. We received a nice thank you note from the local USO director for all our help.
We also had new opportunities with the Red Cross. We supported the Pedro Presentation on Home Fire Safety for Kindergarten and First Grade Classes at Sasebo Elementary at the beginning of the month and then the 2nd Grade Classes later in the month.
We even got to enjoy some local entertainment when we found
a sign (In Japanese, thank
you google translate) while walking by the port in
the morning for the Dancing Performances at the Japanese Navy Base near our
apartment.
